Te Awamutu is a wonderful location for a golfing holiday. All courses offer good challenges, with Te Awamutu and Waitomo regularly being chosen to host 72 hole stroke-play championship events and Stewart Alexander having wonderful greens which stay true and fast in winter. Local courses include:
- Te Awamutu Golf Club Popular, well established 18 hole course. Easy walking, mature tree lined fairways, excellent greens.
- Pirongia Golf Club Easy walking, immaculately presented. No fairway rough and only 5 bunkers. Course layout caters for the racetrack for the Annual Pirongia Boxing Day Races.
- Stewart Alexander Golf Club Attractive course with rural views. Several undulating fairways, bunkers and maturing trees. 6 par 3's.
- Narrows Golf Club Interesting, testing and easy walking Par 72 course. Prides itself on a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

- Ngahinapouri Golf Club 9 hole country club with genuine country hospitality established over 70 years ago. Mown fairways, mown rough, well bunkered and easy walking.
- Waitomo Golf Club Delightful, challenging course demands accuracy off the tee. Nectar producing and native trees, many native birds.
- Cambridge Golf Club Ranged along the Waikato River and is revered as a wonderfully challenging course and the oldest club in the Waikato. One of the driest winter courses in NZ. Sand greens noted for consistent speed all year.
