IN THE AREA:
Te Miro Mountain Bike Park is a growing network of trails off Waterworks Road, less than half an hour's drive from Cambridge. The trails are very popular with a wide range of riders and one of the Waikato's best kept secrets.
The park offers a variety of Grade 2-4 singletrack that loops through a variety of terrain and obstacles. Some of the trails are in lush stands of native bush – a beautiful environment to ride amongst.
Some of the tracks feature technical sections and steep downhills, while others consist of sweeping berms and lakeside trails.
Cross-country Commonwealth Games silver-medalist Sam Gaze, of Cambridge, makes this his home training ground, before he heads overseas each year.
